Inbox Placement

See exactly where your mail lands across Gmail / Yahoo / Outlook.

Send a tracking-coded test from your production sender to a list of seed addresses; we report where each one landed — Inbox, Promotions / Updates, Spam, or Missing — per ESP. The 30 / 60 / 90-day reputation trend rolls every completed test into one curve so you can see whether deliverability is improving or regressing.

What you get

Built around what tenants actually need to ship deliverability.

Real send → real verdict

We don't mock placement — your mail server actually sends to real seed mailboxes; we report where each one landed. No simulators, no rule-based guesses, no synthetic deliverability proxies.

Per-ESP breakdown

Gmail / Yahoo / Outlook / Zoho / Other ESPs reported separately — so when 90% lands at Google but 10% lands at Outlook, you know exactly which provider needs the warmup attention.

Reputation trend

Every completed test rolls into a per-sender 30 / 60 / 90-day reputation score so you see whether you’re improving or regressing — at the right cadence for a campaign team.

How it works

From a real send to a per-ESP verdict

Follow one test from your production sender — real mail to real seed mailboxes, classified per ESP, scored 0–100, and rolled into a reputation trend you can watch move.

A test gets its seed list

You start a test from your real sender. Our provider mints the seed mailboxes and a tracking code (ELV-…); in auto mode we send through your stored SMTP, in manual mode you fire the list from your own ESP with that code in the body.

One message per seed

In auto mode we dispatch through nodemailer — one message per seed so a single bad recipient can’t abort the batch — with the tracking code appended as Ref: <code>. Seeds span five ESP buckets: Google, Yahoo, Outlook, Zoho and Other.

Where did each one land?

The engine reads its own seed mailboxes and classifies every seed — Inbox, Promotions (its Category tab), Spam, Waiting or Missing. We poll for the result at most every 20 seconds; a test that never completes flips to expired after 24 hours.

One deliverability number

Placements roll into a 0–100 score: 100 − spam·1 − missing·0.7 − promo·0.2 − waiting·0.1 + inbox·0.3. Spam and missing hurt most; clean inbox landings earn a little back. It maps to a band — excellent / good / mixed / poor.

Improving or regressing?

Every completed test rolls into a per-sender 30 / 60 / 90-day curve. We split the window in half and compare the averages — a delta of 3+ points sets the arrow up or down, so you see direction, not just a single noisy snapshot.

The verdict, and an alert

On completion inbox_placement.test_completed fires with the full summary; if the trend turns down by 5+ points, inbox_placement.reputation_regressed follows. The detail page shows the score, the per-ESP split, and the sender’s domain-health snapshot.

FAQ

Quick answers.

How does the auto-send option work?+

On the Inbox Placement page you can connect your SMTP credentials once (SendGrid, Mailgun, Brevo, Mandrill, Postmark, Google Workspace, your own relay…) and we fire the seed emails through your actual sender. Test reflects your real production reputation rather than asking you to copy-paste seeds into a sequencer.

How are inbox-placement tests priced?+

Each test consumes the credit weight shown in the Pricing section above, drawn from your monthly wallet. Inbox placement is the heaviest single call we charge because we send real mail to real seed mailboxes across every major ESP — Pro plans bundle a small free quota to anchor typical usage, and credit packs cover the overflow if you run a large one-off campaign audit.

When is a test refunded?+

If no email is detected at any seed within the test window, the credits consumed by the test are refunded automatically. Useful when the sender was misconfigured or the seed list never received anything.

How big is the seed list?+

~30 seed addresses across Gmail / Yahoo / Outlook / Zoho / Other — statistically representative coverage of "did the email land in the average user's inbox" across the major ESPs.
